Goodbye November

I have to admit that being at the end of November has slipped up on me. Maybe it is because Thanksgiving was so  late in the month. At any rate , the 30th is our agreed upon date for posting our Mary Brown blocks.
This is my progress....
These three blocks are on the opposite top two rows from my initial blocks. The corner bird blocks are identical other than being mirror image, and the colors are reversed for the bird and flower. Stitching these was my November OMG. You can linkup at Elm Street Quilts to see what everyone else accomplished.
As you can see, I need to stitch another block(sunflowers) in order to easily trim, join them and appliqué the vines.  That will be my
December OMG, as well as my Mary Brown goal.  Be sure to take a peek to see what other Mary Brown participants are doing......

Sew Crazies and a Finish

Sew Crazies met on Monday. There was the usual conversation, laughter and sharing. Miss Debi, ever the over achiever, never fails to delight with her show and tell.....

Temecula’s winter quilt for 2019. Over 100 sweet little red churn dashes. I love it❤️

This one is a Lori Holt pattern.

And this was agree Tilda pattern. So sweet.

She made those cute little pinwheels from the tree trimmings, adding her own special touch to this one.

Jen Kingwell’s Glitter quilt made in Halloween fabrics.I LOVE this one.

Houses made from Kathy Schmitz panels.
Do you think she might love holiday quilts??

Sandra was making these cute little cross-stitch music boxes....

And I finished WinterBuddies!

Now I need to decide whether to make him into a large pillow or a wall hanging. I am leaning towards a pillow.

Last night I started this sampler, BringingGood Cheer, by Blackbird Designs.

I bought the kit from Country Sampler, and I am in love with the linen and over dyed cotton threads.

And yes, I did finish the red work sampler. I just need to press it so that I can get a good photo.

Blake and I got early Christmas gifts today....from us to us...lol. We bought much needed iPads, and I am so excited. Mine was so old that I could no longer send or receive emails. I am blogging from mine tonight.

Food for thought...

This and That

I’ve been working on a bit of this and that the past week.

The Elizabeth A Wenden sampler is a delight to work on. Nothing too difficult, so it is easy to watch Netflix at night with DH and stitch.
Not that I haven’t had to frog a few stitches....lol.

Mattie is glad to keep my feet warm.

I’ve also stitched all 12 Happy Hexies for month two...

All done, just in time, as month three arrived in the mail today.

Block set nine of Liberty Periodical is also finished.

And I have made progress on Winter Buddies!

Good advice.

November OMG

It was hard to choose a OMG for November. It’s a busy month and it is hard to know how much stitching I’ll get squeezed in. Because I really want to keep up with Mary Brown, I decided to choose the next two blocks on this quilt. I believe that I will work on the upper right hand corner, which are mirror images of the ones I just finished, except the flower and bird colors are switched.

I have started prepping them. Linking up at
Elm Street Quilts. Be sure to jump over and see what everyone else plans to do.

The Hospitality Sampler is home from the framer.

I plan for it to be the first on my sampler wall. The colors are not really true in this photo.

This is my next cross stitch project. The original was stitched in navy. I changed to Berry Wine from the Victorian Motto Shoppe. I plan to use it in my red dining room.

Tuesday was grandparents’ day at Jackson’s school. This will be the last one, as next year he will be in middle school.

I always look forward to it and have been going since he was in kindergarten. They grow up so fast!!

Dogwood Hook In

Better late than never...our Happy Hookers group hosted the Dogwood ATHA Hook In on 10/26 with a Fall theme.
These were the place settings...

The centerpieces.....

And a couple of the vendors.

I showed great restraint with the great vendors and only bought a loop lifter.

The rug show was amazing this time, but I only had a chance to take a couple of photos.

These final two were my favorites....

This is what I am hooking now. Bought this from Cushing as a kit, started it at Caraway while waiting on the teacher, and didn’t touch it again.
I think that it is so sweet and would like to get it finished and made into a pillow before Christmas.

I have been doing a little slow stitching on a new sampler....using this nice variegated red by Victorian Motto Shoppe instead of black or navy on 36ct Lambswool linen. Pattern is Elizabeth A. Wenden, 1864. I love the simplicity and naiviety of it. I suppose it was stitched by a young girl during the Civil War, when fabric and threads were hard to come by.

I am teaching myself to cross stitch “in hand” rather than using a hoop or frame. It is supposed to be much faster...maybe that will come later...and it is nice not to have to move the hoop around and have it distort the stitches. Tension is a challenge, but I did a little small, which I will show when it is fully finished, and I think that I am getting there. I am linking up with
Kathy at Slow Sunday Stitching. Be sure to stop by and see what everyone else is up to.

Have a great rest of the weekend!!
