I’m Late, I’m Late

I should’ve posted my Mary Brown blocks on April 30th. But I didn’t. No excuses. I just didn’t. So, with no further ado, here is the block that I prepped last month and finally stitched this month.

I like the result, but it was a bit fiddly to make.

Here it is assembled with the right hand upper two rows of the quilt.

This one helped to balance the colors out a bit.

Here are the other ladies stitching along:

Karen – Log Cabin Quilter(Lead)

Cathy – Biglakequilter

Julie K –  Juliekquilts

Robin –   solsticestudio

Nanette – Doitrightquilter

Jan – Nanette will show her progress on her blog

Mattie gave us a bit of a scare this week. I was not as vigilant as need be and had been feeding my iris some bone meal. Mattie is consumed by the odor, and I suppose the taste. She got the bag, spread it all over the driveway and proceeded to consume more than her fair share. So, it was 100% organic steamed bone meal. Nontoxic the literature says. She vomited all night, necessitating an emergency vet visit under coronavirus protocol. Meaning we sit in the car and talk to the vet on the phone while Mattie is being examined. Long story short, bone meal in large quantities can congeal in the gut causing obstruction, and on X-ray Mattie had a nice sized lump in her stomach. Overnight stay, IV fluids , meds, multiple xrays, the mass was moving, but Mattie won’t poop when she is walked on a leash. The next afternoon we brought her home, she evacuated the mass and all is well. Expensive and scary lesson. Here is Mattie after she got home...

So exhausted that she didn’t move a muscle for hours.

Macy celebrated her fourteenth birthday last week.

Family gathered for cake and ice cream in the driveway, socially distancing. Her friends drove by with signs and gifts, singing Happy Birthday.

Hope all are staying safe and well.

Take care,
Jennie

  2. Wow, a good thing you noticed she was eating that stuff and very glad you took her to the vet albeit VERY expensive. Glad Mattie is recovering but no wonder she is exhausted.
You quilt is looking very pretty but too intimidating for me to do.

  3. Your block was well worth the wait. Hope Mattie is feeling better. It's a shame we have to have social distancing but what a great way friends and family sent their Birthday greetings. Hugs

  4. Your Mary Brown blocks are so pretty. So much work! Wow.
Poor Mattie and that's what you are now after the ER vet visit. Happy to hear she is ok. What a little stinker...but she always has been, right?
    Happy birthday to Macy :)

  5. Your current Marry Brown block looks just perfect -- and so full! Lots of pieces and stitches to make that beauty. I really like the star block below it in the group photo. The colors and fabrics are so wonderful together.
Poor Maddie and poor you. Dogs are just so investigative and interested in eating whatever appeals to them whether safe or not. So glad she's okay.
Macy and her photo are beautiful.
Also beautiful are the flowers from your last post. You must have an amazing yard and gardens!
