Ali Strebel Class

We had the opportunity to take a class from Ali Strebel prior to our hook in. Ali likes to add interest to her rugs with different techniques and fibers. I will admit that I really didn’t think I would be particularly interested in doing that....but I had a pattern of Ali’s bought many years ago when I first started hooking. Wanting to support the guild by taking the class, I signed on. Within thirty minutes of starting this class I was totally on board with what Ali was doing...LOL.

This pattern and some cool neutral fiber came home with me.

This was a free Karen Kahlee pattern that Ali used her techniques upon in a guild challenge.

I love that Ali was able to add these techniques and still end up with a prim rug.

This is my rug....

The handle is made of roving dreads that are couched and needlefelted. The bunny’s eye is a quillie with a needlefelted center. The strawberries are needlefelted onto the hooking.  The pink flower was needlefelted and then added to the rug.  

Lesson learned...never say never.
