Till we meet again

On June 12th, we said "Till we meet again" to our dear fifteen year old Poppy.  Poppy came to us at age 1 1/2. She had been born in a foster home, the offspring of a Shih Tzu and a traveling man. For the first 1 1/2 years of her life she lived in an adoptive home that could not provide for her properly, and the rescue group took her back. That is where our story began....she joined Blake and me and our two schnauzer's, Roxie and Rascal.  She was a dear, friendly, independent soul who loved to hunt, to clean out the dishwasher and to snuggle warm against you at night. Her personality was more that of a cat than a dog.

A few months ago she lost her vision, and along with her dementia and kidney failure, life became a downward spiral for her, her independence fading away. There comes a time when you just know.  We spent her final day on this earth intentionally, giving extra loving and treats she had been denied due to her kidney failure, and extra Xanax to calm her ever increasing anxiety...it was a good day.

Saying good bye is hard, though, even when you know it is right.

Run free, sweet Poppy.....with Rascal and Rugby.....till we meet again.

Dear Christi shared this with me....

Take Care,
Jennie

Flying By

It seems this week is just flying by.  There are just not enough hours in the day to squeeze everything in.

This week's Lucy block is a finish......#24.  I really like the way this one turned out. And I was able to get a couple of setting blocks from the leftovers.

I also decided to see how the fabric that I chose to connect the blocks was going to look. I bought it quite some time ago, but this is the first time I actually attached it to a block.
I am pretty pleased with it. It is a nice neutral. Not too busy, with taupe and brown tones in it. I believe it's a go.

This afternoon I finished binding and blocking my Little Scrapper, which I am dubbing "Buddy".
Do you see the resemblance?

Tonight I dug out scraps for the centers of the light blue Postage Stamp Stars and the Wonky Star block for the RSC light blue month.  Had to trim up some odd squares from the oldies bin to get enough.

The trimmings will become more of these tiny Bow Ties.

And I cut another Lucy block....a very challenging one. Sometimes it takes nearly as long to cut one out as to stitch it.

Ashley....

And Becky.....
Celebrated birthdays this week.  Now we are done with the whirlwind of family birthdays until August.

Today was one of these days as I try to digest the news that a dear little one's brain cancer is showing progression. I HATE CANCER.

Take Care,
Jennie
