Dogwood ATHA Rug Show

A couple of weeks ago we had our Dogwood ATHA Hook In with rug show. I never got around to sharing these wonderful rugs, so I thought that today was a good day for it. Enjoy!

This was my favorite.

Cross Stitch/Rug HookingPost

I will start with my hooping projects and plans. As previously posted, the end of January/ first of February, I attended a hooking class in N.C. I took a previous start (in a class with Tricia Travis) that needed a bit of tweaking. The roses were just too bubblegum pink suit me.

Just a small tweak made me much happier......and I made some progress!

Next is the rug I started with Eric. It really isn’t my taste, but was a good lesson in working with monochromatics.

Since it is UGA colors, so I might just finish it for Jackson, whose room is decorated in these colors.

This is a small rug that I took to Happy Hookers and our February Hook In just to have something small to work on.

I am hooking from my worm bags....and, of course, you can’t tell that I’ve touched them. I tried the puzzle pieces background filling that Lisanne Miller taught. I am not that thrilled with it,won’t use it again....but won’t rip this out. I will probably finish this on Tuesday night.

Myhooking goal for this month is to finish The Reader. Not that much left.

On to cross stitch. I finished Mary Oakley 1818 by Pineberry Lane. This was a Christmas day start.

I am really pleased with it. This was my first experience with 40 count linen.

Next was a sweet little freebie sampler by Blackbird Designs. The challenge from the BBD FB group was to personalize it with a motif that you like that reminds you of BBDs, and to add a family name that is meaningful.

I added the bird and heart. The date is my grandparents’ wedding date, and their names, Marvin and Pearl.
This is their wedding photo.

He was 22, she was 16. They were married for 75 years before she passed away.

Next up is Ann Roberts, a year long FB SAL. I finished part 2 for February.

Love that orange and white spotted dog with its nose in the flower.

This is my February Prairie Schooler....

Still hoping to complete one a month.

And this is my new sampler start, Martha S. Scott 1878, by Gigi R. Love these colors .

And this is my small start on 40 count Ale with called for overdyed cottons.

And this was my
Slow Sunday Stitching.

This is a UFO that I found among some quilting...Gardener Goodwitche by Brenda Gervais. I think it was a kit in 2014 from Country Sampler. Another small start. Cute, though.

And I had to start this one a couple of days ago after seeing Vonna’s tutorial on finishing strawberries.

I’ve had the kit for a couple of years, and have wanted to start a strawberry collection since being gifted a pretty paisley one from Lauren of Rugs and Pugs.

Most of the IG and Flosstubers that I follow, cross stitch in a rotation of some sort to avoid boredom. Now that is right up my alley. So my rotation for March will be Mary Scott, Goodwitche, Ann Roberts, Strawberry Thief and Prairie Schooler Santa. Not sure how I will divide the time....guess I will just play it by ear.

So that’s it....February recap, March plans.

And that’s my excuse.

Take care,
Jennie
