A Hooking Post

Seems my hooking posts are few and far between these days. I do spend more time on quilting projects, but I haven't abandoned the hooking.

I try to keep a small piece in the works to take with me to hooking groups, and Scrappy Chickens from Kathy Clark's Little Scrappers collection qualifies....

It will soon be finished and I already have another "little" on my mind.  And I do believe it will come out of this cute booklet filled with inspiration...

Filled with adorable artwork begging to be hooked or punched. Thanks for the inspiration, Kelley!!! By the way, you too can have this booklet for only twenty bucks by contacting Kelley using the info above.

My big project is Homespun Medallions and I am progressing, though slowly.

What a joy it is to work on!!! Especially since I have cleaned up my hooking corner and treated myself to a new, comfy chair.

Tonight there is no stitching or hooking, as I am spending the night with these guys...

Moving Some Projects Forward

This week I am trying to keep moving projects forward.

Step one is more progress on the Lady of the Lake blocks sponsored as part of the Classic and Vintage SAL series from FQS.

I wasn't sure that this project would be more than a single block, but last night I pulled the fabrics to make a lap sized quilt. These blocks are fun and easy.

And I really love the Bloc-Lok for trimming down HSTs. The quilt instructions suggested using Triangles on a Roll, but I didn't have them.

Next up is Week 3 of Gnome Angel's Gypsy Wife SAL.

And finally, Block 3 of the FQS Designer Mystery BOM...

I also cut for the setting of this BOM.

Hoping to start adding the rather labor intensive settings as I go so that it won't be so time consuming in the end.

Still no pic of my finish....it has been a busy day...maybe tomorrow.

A little late, but this is SA's first day of Sophomore year.....

Me lately....

Sharing

A bit of the past week's stitching tonight, more tomorrow.

Fat Quarter Shop is doing a Classic and Vintage Quilt Along series and sent a free pattern out for Lady of the Lake. I had the perfect Pam Kitty Morning bundle of fabric just waiting for a not so difficult quilt, and this one seemed ideal....

We'll see how it goes.

Finished circle 3 of the Fussy Cut Stars...

And Circle 4 is ready to stitch.

Also got Week 2 of Gypsy Wife done.

I could not even imagine how these fabrics would work together, but they did!!

I had helpers while I was binding over the weekend...

It's a finish, but no pic yet.

Sara Ashley (on the left) cheered at her first HS football game.

And Robert told girlfriend Sophie goodbye as she headed off to France for a year.

Good thing he'll be busy at UGA.

This and That

In my typical fashion, I have worked on this and that the past couple of days. And enjoyed every moment of it.

My greatest accomplishment was to catch up completely on the Temecula First Friday Mystery SAL.

The large block was a lesson in accuracy and patience.

I have now finished two of the Fussy Cut Star circles and have the next two prepped. Here are the two finished stars and the next star selection....

These don't go together quickly as setting the large hexie in is a challenge and I can see that there will be more to join the circles.

Carrie at
Gnome Angel is having a SAL for Jen Kingwell's Gypsy Wife Quilt. I had received the BOM from Homestead Hearth over a year ago but never started it(imagine that), so the support of this group seemed the perfect time to jump in. After all, I needed another project, right???

Week 1, Color Wheel

10 1/2" Setting Block, Section 3

Robert was off to UGA on Sunday. This is he and Sara Ashley in his dorm room....

Which will likely never be this clean again...LOL.

Jackson is here, scoring a TD for his flag football team.

What A Week

What started off as a rather normal week fell to pieces midweek as I ended up being hospitalized in the early a.m. hours of Wednesday morning with new onset Atrial Fibrillation.  It wasn't really a surprise, as both my mom and sister had been diagnosed with it, but I had never had symptoms. The good news is that I spent 24 hours in the hospital, going home on new meds. Got a nap on Wednesday afternoon to make up for the lost 24, and continued with my regular schedule through the week. But today the fatigue and stress caught up with me and I crashed. Feeling much better this evening after a relaxing day.

Was able to finish round two of the Fussy Cut Friday stars.

Linking up for
Slow Sunday Stitching.

Month Two of the Cream Sparkle BOM arrived and I got them done right away.

Eight little button blocks....finished.

I also completed June and July's Temecula Quilt Company First Friday blocks...and then the new instructions for August arrived on Friday...lol.
