Catching up......

Alas, it has been far too long since I posted.  So many things have happened and life is so good.  The days are full and happy and blessed.

For tonight, I will try to play catch up on my projects.  Lots going on here this month, with the routine projects being set aside for the most part.  But last month, much progress was made.

A lovely week long trip to Hilton Head with four hooking friends lent to a great deal of progress on the scroll runner.  It will be set aside now until after Christmas, but I can see an end in sight and it is pretty exciting!!!

This little wool appliqued cardinal door hanger (pattern from Primitive Quilts & Projects) was a hostess gift for Nancy, who so generously invited us to spend the week with her......hooking, shopping, eating and generally just having a grand time.

The second Primitive Garden block was finished in November......it is the Geranium block.  I think the ticking background fabric is just perfect for this block.  All of the pieces are cut out for the December block and hopefully it will get done after the Christmas rush.  I had really forgotten how much I like this quilt and am glad to be working on it again.

Had a request for a quilt as a Christmas gift from a special guy in my life, so I came home from Hilton Head and got it done and off to the LA quilter last week.  The pattern is, of course, Ohio Star.  I made it using the Square in a Square Ruler and it really made it easy.  Wanting it to look masculine,  I chose the darker colors and included my favorite black and tan pheasant toile from Jo Morton.  I was pleased and I do hope he will be.

Finished the stitching around blocks 6 & 7 of Jan Patek's Oakleaf & Pomegranate BOM.  I still need to do the November blocks (yes there were two in that one), but again.......after the holiday rush......by that time I will have December's block, too.

I have to admit that I am having trouble getting into the Christmas spirit this year........despite spending hours making ribbons for the church last week.  I don't have a single decoration up!!!  Maybe this weekend.........

While Christmas shopping eBay, I ran across this cute vintage Japan wallpocket that I just couldn't resist......Merry Christmas to me :-))

Enough catching up for now.  See you again soon.

GRATITUDES:

Ann Voskamp's book, One Thousand Gifts.
The sight of chickens foraging in the garden for the first time.
Young women with the vision and faith to go out and raise a lot of money for a very special charity.

Take care,
Jennie

  2. Hi! This is Elise at the Hen House in Charlotte, MI! I found your post via Pinterest. Saw the Red Bird and was thrilled! Nancy Conn, the owner of this quilt shop designed that pincushion in the magazine. So cool to see what you have done with it! Keep up the great work!

  4. Love, love those Jan Patek blocks you made. And the runner you are working on too. The colors used in it caught my eye right away.
