Happy Hookers Night

Well, yes, it was a week ago. Better late than never.  Not everyone works on hooking, but we all have fun.

Angie has made a lot of these cute sheep, which will become a quilt finish of some sort. I think that she has enough for a king sized quilt!

Ann is hooking this pretty quilt pattern that she designed herself.

Edit here: Ann says that this pretty pattern is not her design, but that of Anita White’s Thanks, Ann, always want to give credit where it is due.

And Theda is contemplating her next project.

Jan is hooking this cute Lori Brechlin bird.

Cindy is thinking of Christmas already.

Vicky is hooking the grassy hill on this freebie pattern from RHM.

And Mary’s wonderful M. Shaw chickens are getting close to the finish line.

Beth is nearly done with the embroidery on this little sashiko glasses pouch.

And the rug that Laura started in Ali Strebel’s class is really close to the being finished. The colors are stunning in person.

Me? I brought my EPPing to hooking...lol.

And, finally, Kathie is crocheting a soft afghan.

Robert adopted a Maine coon mix from the shelter for his birthday.

He named him Jerome.  He is thin now, but they think he will be a big guy. Look at that tail!!

We celebrated Mother’s Day at Ashley’s home.

A bit of humor....and maybe a bit of truth...lol.

May OMG

It seems only right that I should take this push to finish the Doily Rug to a new level and claim finishing it completely (that includes binding...ughhhhhh) as my One Monthly Goal. I am continuing to make progress...only two more fans and the outside border.

Linking up at ElmStreet Quilts.

I finished Month 3 of Liberty Periodical last week, but never got around to making pics.

And I don’t think that I ever shared the sweet sewing basket that I purchased in Charleston.

It was my big splurge and I love it. It is so beautifully made. And you wouldn’t believe how heavy it is. Right now it has my hand piecing in it.

Our arbor never fails to delight us each Spring....

Hope everyone has a great week. Time for me to change from Gardener to Rug Hooker. Looking forward to seeing my pals at Happy Hookers tonight.

Rather Amazing

On Sunday I declared that I would try to commit to hooking on the Doily rug at least 15 minutes a day.
This was Sunday...

And today!!

Pretty amazing, huh? Of course, the truth is what I had already acknowledged. If you hook for 15 minutes, you will likely sit and hook awhile longer, which is what happened with me. At any rate, I can see the end in site.

I have been stitching an easy quilt, Pecking Order by Missouri Star Quilt (there is a You Tube with free pattern). It calls for one Charm Pack of a print and some solids, which I cut from yardage. I had pulled some charms from a couple of packs, so I combined them and chose from each.....

I still have parts of these two charm packs left, so it didn’t do much towards my goal of using up the precuts in my burgeoning cubby. This project made a good Leaders and Enders project, but I finally just finished the blocks up. I have four rows put together and think I could even see this top finished in May.

A fellow Master Gardener identified my pretty purple rose as Veilchenblau.....

She’s a David Austin rose, my favorites. Thanks for your help, Audrey!!

My dear Robert lost his companion, comforter and confidante this week.

His Instagram post...

My heart breaks for him. So much loss in his young life.

On a lighter note...

Take care and have a great weekend,
Jennie

Wool

This post will be a catch up on the wool projects that I am currently working on.

Number one is the Doily Rug.

Only two fans left. I am going to try to work on this rug for at least 15 minutes a day. Of course, we all know that if you sit down to hook, you will most likely spend more than 15 minutes. My goal is to have this rug finished before Caraway Rug School in mid June. Last year I hadn’t finished a single rug in the entire year between camp dates. I was a bit humbled. But not enough that I didn’t wait till the last minute to finish a rug this year. Of course, I did finish the little red ware rug.

Next up is Block two of Mrs. Jump’s Tea Party.

I must say that I am right pleased with these blocks .

If you recall, this is Linda Brannock’s version...

Hers is mainly 30’s repro prints with rick rack.

Last wool item...I am getting ready for a class with Tricia Travis in May. I am really looking forward to it. This will be my second class with her. Being an open class, the rug I have chosen is by a different designer.
This rug pattern is one gifted to me by my dear friend, Diane, when she moved away to West Virginia.
This is her version:

The pattern is Solomon’s Delight, and Diane is the designer. I hope that I can do it justice.

This sweet little plant has popped up in my yard the past two years...

It is Star of Bethlehem.

And we moved this beautiful rose from my daughter’s yard when they did away with their arbor...

It is lush and loaded with wonderful purple roses. I haven’t been able to find the name of it.

Well, that does it for tonight.

Slow Sunday Stitching for a Change

It’s been awhile since I participated in Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching.  This is the perfect day for spending a bit of time on the back porch.....

With these guys.....

Working on this....

The third month appliqué Block of Liberty Periodical. Figured I had better get moving, as Month Four is on the way from Sarah Edgar Pretty Fabrics and Trims. The appliqué fabrics are all Liberty of London Tana Lawns. They are lovely, but I do find appliquing with them a little more challenging.

My Christmas cactuses have been moved to their summer home on the back porch. Strangely, the fuscia one has been blooming without a pause since November!!

Little fuzzy butt has now taken over the ottoman...lol.

What a sweet boy he is.

My niece found these two cute Made in Japan figurines at an estate sale for a song, and picked them up for my collection. I especially love the little Dutch girls with the lamb. That little vase is about 2 1/2 to 3” tall. Can’t wait to put a little posy in it.

Okay, back to stitching.

From Instagram....

I’m Back

I’ve been doing lots of things, none of which included blogging....but I have certainly thought about it. I really don’t like it when I fall behind. I never know where to begin again. There is no catching up.  But here goes...right where I am.

Yesterday I finished Month 2 of Liberty Periodical.

Sweet appliqué

Simple piecing

Using lovely Liberty Tana Lawns on my choice of pale pink Moda Bella.

The first two months together. I’m loving this BOM by @sarahedgarprettyfabrics.

And then I started collecting men’s silk ties from thrift stores....

So that I can make a CQ like Julia and Cathy.

My first block...I haven’t added the backing yet.

And I found this great book to help me along.

And then there is family....

Jackson got braces.

Sara Ashley went to prom.

We had our annual Easter lunch and egg hunt.

And Macy turned thirteen. Where do the years go??

The Master Gardeners had a very successful Spring Plant Sale.
