It has been awhile since I enjoyed a Slow Stitching Sunday (linking up with Kathy) but I claimed today just for that purpose, and it was lovely.
My focus for the afternoon was Glorious Hexagons, and I am making progress. With these last two Nicoles, I have finished set #1.
I started out with what turned out to be a rather dull color scheme.....because that is my norm. But I am determined to make this quilt sparkle, so I am introducing more color as I go along. I incorporated some of my dulls in this set, and will add others as I go along.
My last post featured grandson, Robert's accomplishments and activities. Today I am moving on to his sister, Sara Ashley's. SA faced the struggle of learning because of Dyslexia and ADHD. She has been in the very special learning environment of The Bedford School, a school for children with learning differences, since first grade. To say that she has thrived there would be an understatement. This year, at her completion of Middle School, she was awarded the First Place Art Award, Aaron Turner Character Award, Gold Bear Award (GPA 3.5 or higher), Citizenship Award and English Award (highest grade in middle school).
And she has been accepted into The Heritage School, her school of choice, for her freshman year of HS. Heartwarming accomplishments for this young lady who started her school career with so many challenges.
She, Rob and Christi attended the Rolex Horse Show in Lexington, KY last month. They had a great time, despite the rainy weather, and she got to meet lots of her Instagram friends!
And she had fun with her next favorite pastime (second only to horses), photography.
Got to love this sweet, smart and beautiful granddaughter of mine.
Gardening has taken up much of my time lately. We had a bumper crop of Spring weeds due to the mild, damp winter....and there are always plants to move and new ones to be added. Here are a few things growing in our garden.
Take Care,
Jennie
