Slow Sunday Punching

DFinished punching Santa.(Linking up to Slow Sunday Stitching). Think that I will attach him to a band of red and white ticking to go around my pretty letter basket.

Am thinking he needs a bit of antiquing.

Then I prepped two Halloween Pillows. The kit for these guys was purchased last year, but I never got around to making them. I needed something simple to work on tomorrow when Kathie, Laura and I get together, and this fit the ticket. The pattern is by Maggie B.

I also did a bit more organizing in my sewing room, sorting through the patriotic, novelty, Easter and Fall fabrics as well as the homespuns. The scrappy pieces are being set aside to cut up a bit at a time. No more marathon cutting for this poor wrist!

Now, on to the 30s and Modas....then the yardage. The end is in sight.

Jackson is playing baseball in a tournament team this fall, in addition to his regular team. This weekend was their first tournament, and they came in second!

Their prize....a ring...just like the Super Bowl players receive!!!

Happy Hookers Update

Tuesday was Happy Hookers night at Kathie's. Fellowship and yummy food enjoyed by all. Vicky made  banana split dessert that was to die for. Yum!!!

Theda was the queen of finishes!

Macy, fifth grade now, started Cotillion. She'd rather be at the gym doing cheer....but doesn't she look pretty? And like her cousin, Sara Ashley, before her, she is wearing my gloves. Now how sweet is that???

If I Only

Had a brain. Honestly,  sometimes I worry. On Saturday Christi, Sara Ashley and I took in some shops on the Court Square, ate lunch at Redneck Gourmet and then headed out to a local craft fair. After we had finished and were waiting in line for a funnel cake, Christi discovered this......

All day, two different  Birkenstocks....do you think anyone else noticed??? I have to tell you, we laughed till we cried.

Just saying here, that the cute little 2" finished star in the center of the 6" block has SEVENTEEN pieces in it!!!! If I had known these blocks were going to be so challenging, I might not have bitten. Oh well, I am in it now, and I do like them. I'll just have to look at it as an opportunity to work on accuracy.

The old hand is not cooperating with hooking right now. Even alternating hooks allows me only about 20 minutes of hooking time.

But I have made a little progress on the big scrappy rug...

Rob and Robert went to the GA game on Saturday....Go Dawgs!!!!

And we had our family birthday dinner for Rob here last night....a big Southern meal with roast beef and veggies.

A Theme Going on Here?

It was not intentional, but as I started to gather the pics for this post, I noticed there seemed to be a theme going on here.

The Magic of Christmas (Primitive Gatherings) Block 2, City Version.

Country version

First two blocks together.

I am definitely liking them.

Block 1 of Lori Holt's (Bee in My Bonnet) Cozy Christmas SAL. Her colors are so darned cute that I just couldn't resist this one. Block 3 is already out, with another coming Monday, so I have to do some catching up here.

And this UFO Punchneedle was on my list of 10 items that I want to work on.

Started it years ago and only had the beard done. I like to punch, but do it rarely. The different movement gives my aching hand and wrist a break. Note to self....no more days on end of marathon cutting.

So, might I say, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...LOL!!

Celebrated Rob's 3 year "Cancerversary". Maybe an odd celebration, but three years with GBM Grade 4 and a clear scan (yay clinical trial drug) says celebration to this grateful family.

On Monday we will celebrate his 45th birthday here.  This horrible disease has given our family many gifts...increased faith, compassion, gratefulness and a closeness of our blended families that we had never imagined possible.  Thank you God.

Miss Roxie, our seventeen year old schnauzer, gave us quite the scare this week. She has the expected stiffness in her back and hind legs, but this week she practically became unable to stand or get up from a sitting position. Needless to say, we were distraught. A trip to the vet and some new meds has made a difference in the past 24 hours, so we are hopeful that in a few days she will once again be a feisty senior!

Crazies Day

August 16th was Sew Crazies. I wrote this post then and just now realized it never published, so here it is now....better late than never. 

We didn't have a project planned, but discussed our group project starting in September. Several of us are going to be making a row quilt from Lori Holt's book, Quilty Fun.

I bought this book when it first came out....even purchased the 6 1/2 yards of fabric needed for the background....a cute white with red pin dots from Riley Blake. So it will be fun to have friends to stitch with and encourage one another on this Quilty journey.

Show and Tell is always a highlight of the day. Sandy finished her Oklahoma Backroads top from Bonnie Hunter's class.

All of this from the gal who can't make half square triangles. She said that Bonnie's class freed her from expecting perfection. Yay!!!!

She had also finished up this cute charity quilt top from a kit Kathleen had cut. Can't remember the name of it, but cute, bright colors.

And, of course, our most talented Debi had a few things to show, although she "she didn't get much done" because she was organizing her scraps LOL.

I finished up all of the Cathedral Stars blocks, and last night I was able to spend a bit of time assembling them.

I have to admit, just adding those setting triangles makes a world of difference.

Off to put dinner in the crockpot and get ready to work my afternoon shift at the County Extension Office as a part of the Master Gardener program.

In the reality of today's world, these words call out as a reminder....

Our mindset can make a difference in our everyday lives.
