Progress

Setting weekly goals is helping to keep me focused. I am hoping that I can keep it up. Focus is what I need, and it is really hard for me.

I finally got one of the three December FF blocks done....

And have the next one ready for stitching.

The next Homespun Medallion Block is hooked...

Coral and teal,,,my favorite combo.

The light/medium blue RSC nine patches number 60.

Don’t know how many I will need for the chosen quilt, but I am pretty sure I went overboard. Never mind, they will all get used somewhere.

And finally, after much ado, I have the row layout determined for Glorious Gardens...

I tried lots of ways to do it, but honestly, it was just hard. Finally I did my best to balance colors, lights darks and brights and just said enough. Hoping they all work together in the end.

Slow Sunday Gluing

I know....it is supposed to be stitching, but in order to get to the stitching, I needed to get some of these triangles and diamonds for Glorious Gardens prepped.

And it is definitely slow, so I am thinking it will count....lol. Linking up over at

I did get downstairs briefly this afternoon and got some stitching done towards the last of the light/medium blue nine patches.

Hope to get these finished tomorrow.

On Friday Debi and I made the trek over to The Scarlet Thread for a little retail quilt supply therapy. We really NEEDED some things. While there I latched onto this book....

Some really cute, simple quilts that will lend to stash busting. I just might have made a few other purchases, too.

Tonight we finally celebrated Christi’s family birthday dinner here.

How many of you have done your Year of Color? It has been all the rage on Instagram.

Have to say that I really like the looks of mine.

Another Week Has Slipped By

A recap of last week’s goals:

1. Prep and stitch first appliqué Block for “Flowers” quilt (an online group SAL).

This was the first needleturn appliqué I had done in a very long time, and I was really rusty. It took much longer than I had anticipated.

2. Start working on Glorious Gardens setting diamonds and triangles 

Got the setting triangles and diamonds stitched on five hexies...

And all of the setting diamonds and triangles cut. I far exceeded my 

One Monthly Goal for January, which was to prep the last 26 hexies. 

3. Hook one Homespun Medallion block 

4. Start stitching December’s First Friday Blocks

No progress on this one.

5. Make RSC 3” nine patches 

Went back to square one and started over so that the nine patches all have muslin. So far, have twenty two stitched and a good many more prepped and will finish them this week. Linking up to 

RSC.

One of our Prim Folk group members received permission from Linda Brannock’s daughter to share the pattern to our group for Linda’s “Flowers “ quilt.

This is the original quilt.

In order to receive the next month’s pattern, we must complete and post the current month’s block by the last day of the month. I made it in the nick of time this month.

My goals for next week:

1. Lay out the GG hexies on the design wall and get setting diamonds and triangles on row one.

2. Hook one block of Homespun Medallions.

3. Complete last of light/medium blue RSC nine patches.

4. Work on December FF blocks

5. Put first border on Lori Holt row quilt.

Christi was nominated for 2018 Coweta County Citizen of the Year. Even though she didn’t win, it was a huge honor, and we are so proud of her.

This is her with the kind gentleman who nominated her.

The grand pups, Maya and Kirby, are getting along famously.

Our old hospital friends had their quarterly lunch on Wednesday. We had a great turnout and much fun.

Slow Sunday Stitching

I have started stitching the connector diamonds and triangles to the Glorious Gardens hexies. There are six diamonds and two triangles for each. Let me say that this is not going to be a speedy process.

Slow Stitching

I am moving on to adding the connecting triangles and diamonds to the sides of the Glorious Gardens hexies.

 This is not going to be fast. First I need to lay all 94 out to determine color placement. That is going to take a large space. This is my 

Slow Sunday Stitching for today.

Received some goodies in the mail yesterday.

I really need to stop shopping....oh my!

Many of you have expressed that you really like the Nine Patch quilt that I am starting with the RSC. 

This video online talks about making it and some other  nice antique reproductions. I discovered that the original blocks are smaller than my 3” choice, which I am good with. But the other thing is that all of the nine patches in the reproduced version are made with plain muslin, with the setting blocks being shirtings. The reason for this being that the nine patches stand out better that way. I have to agree and will go back and make my nine patches with a solid. Never hurts to review the instructions first, huh?

Mattie celebrated her second adoption year with us today.

We never dreamed that this tiny baby would become 

This big girl. She has been a challenge, but we love her just the same.

Blue Nines

The RSC color of the month is light to medium blue. I honestly don’t have tons of blue scraps, but I did make a bit of a start on the little 3” nine patches 

for this quilt...

I already love them!

Week’s End

My first week of goals has come to an end and I am feeling quite successful.

My goals from last week:

1. Finish stitching the final 14 Glorious Gardens full hexies

94 hexies all done!

2. Finish the orange/green hooked Homespun Medallion square

3. Plan the next Homespun Medallion row

Done and ready to move on to the next row. I am over half done now.

4. Finish the last First Friday Block

5. Find/print First Friday finishing instructions 

The big one with 144 - 1 1/2” half square triangles was a bit much. The bad news is that I thought this was December’s block set. Wrong. When I started to print the setting instructions, I realized that I still have December’s blocks to stitch. Darn.

6. Repair Blake’s jacket 

7. Repair Blake’s jeans.

Both done. I will spare you pics of these....lol.

My goals for the next week:

Next week is pretty busy, so this might be a challenge, but I don’t want to be under ambitious.

A Crazy Day

Yesterday was a very good day.....a Sew Crazies day.  The first in what seemed like a very long time.  It is so good to enjoy time with this very special group of ladies who not only share the same interests, but also care for and accept one another unconditionally.

There was a little show and tell.

Sandra had made this darling dimensional table runner.

And Louise is working on these intricate cross stitch pieces which she will frame.

Debi is working on this great Jen Kingwell pattern, and has added her own personal touch....

Debi brought super fun kits for us to make. She had intended them to be our Christmas craft.

The centers came from the same fabric, but I think the surrounding hexies make them look quite different.

It is unusual for us to have had two snows already this winter.
